Power restored to thousands in GR


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of people woke up to no power in Grand Rapids Sunday morning.

According to the Consumer’s Energy power outage map, more than 4,000 people were without power in Kent County as of 5:30 a.m.

An official with Consumer’s Energy told 24 Hour News 8 that a raccoon got into the Leonard Street substation and knocked out power to customers.

The power was restored just before 6 a.m.
