GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Grand Rapids police say they arrested four people and seized guns, ammunition and drugs after shots were fired Monday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., officers responded to Alexander Avenue SE between Eastern Avenue SE and Kalamazoo Avenue SE after a report that shots had been fired. There had been a fight in that area that escalated to two people pulling handguns and firing several shots, according to a release from the Grand Rapids Police Department. No one was hit.
When GRPD got on the scene, they set up a perimeter around the two houses the people involved had run to after the incident. The people inside were ordered to exit.
Four people were arrested. Two of those were the shooters, GRPD said.
Officers searched one of the houses and found five guns, more than 1,100 rounds of ammunition, about eight pounds of marijuana, and crack cocaine, according to the release.
The shooters are expected to face charges of assault with intent to murder.
The names of the four people jailed have not yet been released.
