GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of Grand Rapids residents woke up without electrical power Monday morning.
Around 5,000 Consumers Energy customers on the city’s east side lost power around 5 a.m.
The outage affected residents between Paris Ave SE and Maryland Ave and as far north as Spencer Street and as far south as Alexander Street.
Crews believe the issue was a raccoon that damaged power lines at a substation on Harvey Street.
Consumers Energy restored power to residents just after 7 a.m.
