GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — They are the unsung heroes of the brutal winter.
City Public Works crews, including plow drivers, were honored with a proclamation by Grand Rapids City Commission Tuesday morning.
“We have never seen a winter like that” City Public Service Director James Hurt told Commissioners. “We hope we don’t see one like that again any time soon.”
Hurt says city plow drivers basically worked tow months straight, without a day off during a winter which dropped 118 inches of snow on Grand Rapids.
The proclamation coincides with National Public Works week.
