Keep your family safe, get a weather radio

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Weather in Michigan can be unpredictable, but there is one way you can keep yourself and your family safe. Storm Team 8 will be at the Gaines Township Meijer on Wednesday, May 21, to talk about weather radios.

Weather radios can alarm you when there is severe weather in your area. They will be selling for a discounted price of $40 at Meijer. Storm Team 8 Meteorologists Bill Steffen and Kyle Underwood will be there to answer your weather questions. And representatives from Midland Radio Corporation and the National Weather Service will be on hand to pre-program your weather radio.

Weather radios can be programmed to provide alerts of severe weather in your county or a county near you. You can also choose the alerts you want, such as blizzard warning or tornado warning.

The Storm Team 8 event is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Meijer at M-6 and Kalamazoo Avenue in Gaines Township.

On Saturday, May 24, Storm Team 8’s Bill Steffen, Kyle Underwood, and Matt Kirkwood will answer your severe weather questions live on WOOD Radio. That’s from noon to 1 p.m. on WOOD Radio 1300 AM or 106.9 FM.
