HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who robbed a woman who was trying to make a night drop at a deposit box at a Holland Township bank.
It happened around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday at the Macatawa Bank at 20 E. Lakewood Boulevard, the sheriff’s office said.
The victim, a 31-year-old Muskegon woman who manages a business in the area, was approached by the suspect, who grabbed her and demanded money as she tried to make the deposit, according to sheriff’s officials.
The two struggled for a short time, and the suspect was able to get the money bag from the woman before running off, the sheriff’s office said. A K9 team tried to track him, but was unsuccessful.
The sheriff’s office said the victim had minor injuries and the suspect did not have a weapon in the incident.
Sheriff’s deputies are working to get surveillance photos of the suspect, who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a bandana over his face.
The robbery was similar to an attempted armed robbery that occurred on April 12 at the bank, sheriff’s officials said. However, in that incident, the victim was able to get the money bag into the deposit box and the suspect ran off.
