Officer has fatal heart attack during training

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A correctional officer had a fatal hear attack during a training exercise Wednesday.

Correctional Officer Chad Charles collapsed during a building clearing scenario while participating in a quarterly training exercise with the Emergency Response Team at Camp Grayling, according to the “Officer Down Memorial” page. Other members of the team performed CPR until he was taken to a local hospital, where he passed away.

Officer Charles had served with the Michigan Department of Corrections at the Muskegon Correctional Facility for nine years.
