BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) – The victim of the shooting in Battle Creek early Saturday has been identified by family as Tianna Hunt, a mother of three.
Hunt, 23, was shot by her boyfriend, 27-year-old Richard Denard Bozell, at a party in the 200 block of Kendall Road just after midnight Saturday, say police.
“She didn’t deserve this. She is a good, loving person,” said Hunt’s aunt, Rose Armstrong.
There was a party at the house the night Hunt was shot. Marcus was just up the road at his sister’s house when the shooting happened.
“Just heard a little argument, then I heard some glass breaking then the gun shots and that was it,” said Marcus. “Come back down and she is laying in the yard.”
Marcus believes he heard two to three shots.
The family told 24 Hour News 8 this isn’t the first time something like has happened to them. In 2009, Hunt’s mom, Angela Brown, was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Battle Creek.
“It should be safe out here. You should be able to go to a party and have fun. And this just don’t make no sense,” said Armstrong.
Hunt remains in critical conditions and the family is praying the mother of three will make a fast, full recovery.
“Oh my gosh, your heart just drops. You know, is she going to make it? We don’t know. We are praying,” says Armstrong.
The family is calling for the Bozell to turn himself in to bring this all come to an end. “Turn yourself in. Just turn yourself in,” Hunt’s aunt said.
Police say Bozell is to be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police immediately.
