BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Four people were taken to various Grand Rapids hospitals after a crash in Blendon Township Saturday morning.
Just after 10 a.m., authorities were called out to the intersection of Bauer Road and 56th Ave.
When they arrived, they found two vehicles that had collided and a broken power pole with active electrical lines that had started a fire in a tree.
Both vehicles had a driver and a front seat passenger in them. All four people were treated and transported to various Grand Rapids hospitals.
Authorities believe a 2008 Ford Taurus X, driven by 75-year-old Antonio Rios-Garcia of Grand Rapids, was going northbound on 56th Ave when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection.
A 2002 Chevy Tahoe, driven by 38-year-old Eric Drake of Hudsonville, was going westbound on Bauer Rd and struck the Ford Taurus.
The front seat passenger in the Ford Taurus was 73-year-old Candida Rios of Grand Rapids. The passenger in the Chevy Tahoe is 29-year-old Ashley Drake from Hudsonville.
Eric and Ashley Drake are in good condition. Antonio Rios-Garcia is in fair condition, Candida Rios is in critical condition.
Authorities say speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
