Live grenade removed from basement

HASTINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — A bomb squad secured a live grenade found in a Hastings basement Tuesday morning.

Emergency responders were called to the 100 block of Shriner Street in Hastings just before 10 a.m. after some workers found three grenades while preparing a house for an estate sale.

Two of those grenades were safe, but one was live.

A bomb squad was called in to remove the 1923 Danish grenade with some flash powder.

No one was hurt.
