GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD)– Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that happened Tuesday morning.
The stabbing happened at around 4:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Underwood Avenue SE.
Police told 24 Hour News 8 that Rashead Lamar Bryant was found dead in his home, and are treating the case as a homicide. Kenyia Townsend, who was living at the home with Bryant, has been arrested for the stabbing and is being held at the Kent County jail for homicide.
Initial investigation leads police to believe the victim and suspect were dating, but the extent of relationship is unknown.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
This is the first homicide in Grand Rapids since two people were shot and killed outside the New York Fried Chicken restaurant on Oct. 31, 2013.
