We asked “How are you Connecting with Community” and you answered!

Watch the full Connecting with Community Awards Special again.

In January, we asked for nominations for our Connecting with Community Awards and the community responded with great collaborations. Our community partners read through all the nominations and selected eight worthy finalists.

Our eight Connecting with Community Awards Finalists were:

Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan

Kentwood A.R.C.H. Program

Nestlings Diaper Bank

West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology

Health Intervention Services

Camp Shout Out

Dégagé Ministries

We highlighted those eight Connecting with Community Awards finalists on 24 Hour News 8 over the past few months. Then this month we gathered all the finalists together for an awards celebration at the Gerald R Ford Museum in downtown Grand Rapids.

The CEO’s of our Connecting with Community partners viewed each of the award finalists and scored them to find the winner. Scoring was based on collaborative effort, how effectively did the finalist reflect an effort of more than one organization working together to solve a problem or community based goal. It was also based on community outreach, how well did this finalist reach out to the community. Scoring was also based on uniqueness and overall impact.

You can relive the whole Connecting with Community Awards by watching the video above.

We’ll share with you all eight of our award finalists and how their partnerships are working to make our community an even place to live.

The Connecting with Community Awards are supported by our Community Partners:

Huntington Bank

Metro Health Hospital

Art Van Furniture

Grand Valley State University

Grand Rapids Community Foundation
