Fugitive assualts and runs from detectives

PAW PAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A wanted fugitive assaulted a narcotics detective when trying to flee arrest Friday.

The Van Buren County Narcotics Division located Caleb Roe, 20, from Paw Paw who was wanted for outstanding warrants. The division was conducting surveillance when they saw Roe and a 19-year-old female get into a vehicle. Then authorities tried to arrest Roe when he shoved one of the detectives and started to run, according to a release.

After a short foot chase, detectives were able to apprehend Roe. Then when searching him, authorities found marijuana and OxyContin on his person. During a search of the vehicle, detectives found more marijuana inside, the release said.

Roe was taken to the Van Buren County Jail charged with assaulting and resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and possession of analogues. The 19-year-old female may later face charges, according to authorities.
