Man guilty of under-reporting taxes by $1 million

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A former Grandville man has plead guilty to filing false federal income tax returns Friday.

Jeffrey Ritcher failed to report all of his income during 2007 through 2011 tax years, according to court records.

In 2007, Ritcher lied about his income by more than $253,000. In total, he under-reported his income by almost a million dollars for the 2007 through 2011 tax years. He also didn’t pay $372,000 in taxes due and owing to the Internal Revenue Service, according to a release.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2014. Ritcher faces up to three years in prison, a fine no more than $250,000 and restitution of the tax due and owing, the release said.
