Memorial Day parade tonight in GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Grand Rapids will hold its Memorial Day parade Friday evening followed by a dedication ceremony for two fallen servicemen.

The parade will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will travel south on N. Division Avenue to Fulton Street, where it will turn east and end at Veterans Memorial Park.

Following the parade, a dedication ceremony will be held for Petty Officer Second Class David Warsen and Army Specialist Zachary Shanafelt. Both men were from West Michigan and were killed in action in 2012.

Warsen and Shanafelt’s names have been added to the monument at Veterans Memorial Park.
