BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Dental Association is hosting its second Mission of Mercy event Saturday morning to provide free dental care to those in need.

The event started Friday and continues Saturday morning starting at 6 a.m. It’s being held at the Ewigbelen Sports Complex at Ferris State University. It’s on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The project brings in around 400 dentists, assistants, and dental hygenists as well as around 600 volunteers.

The services provided are cleanings, fillings, oral examinations, treatment of tooth pain and replacements for up to six teeth.

The first Mission of Mercy event in Michigan took place last year in Saginaw. There were over 1,300 patients seen between the ages of 4-84 and around 7,400 dental procedures conducted.
