1 hospitalized after single-vehicle rollover

MASON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was hospitalized Monday after a rollover crash in Cass County near the Indiana border.

The wreck happened just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Calvin Center Road and US-12 in Mason Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Phillip Spencer was headed south on Calvin Center when he didn’t stop at the US-12 intersection, after which his truck left the road. It hit a number of trees and rolled.

Spencer, 42, of Elkhart, Ind. needed help from the Porter Township Fire Department to get out of his vehicle. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation. Spencer wearing his seat belt at the time, the sheriff’s office said.
