KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Two more people now face charges in the shooting death of a 13-year-old in Kalamazoo last week.

Rashad Perez, 18, and Octavius Snell face charges of open murder, conspiracy to commit murder and felony firearm, according to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office. Snell, 23, also faces an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.

Michael Day, 13, was shot in the chest around 7 p.m. on Memorial Day near the intersection of Lay Boulevard and Race Street, Kalamazoo police said. He later died at the hospital. Police say the shooting was the culmination of an ongoing dispute that had brewed over Memorial Day weekend.

Last week, authorities said they would charge 15-year-old Victor Garay with open murder, conspiracy to commit murder and felony firearm. He is being charged as an adult.

He, along with Perez and Snell, are expected to be arraigned Tuesday. They could each spend the rest of their lives in prison if convicted.
