GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Curling up with a good book can make an afternoon pretty enjoyable. All summer long, we’re going to be sharing “GR Reads 2014.” It’s a summer reading club for adults through the Grand Rapids Public Library.
GR Reads kicked off on June 1. It’s more than just book recommendations. There are events, tours, cooking classes, and author discussions to round out the experience.
For instance, there’s a presentation about vintage jewelry that goes along with the book, “Empty Mansions.” An antiques appraiser will talk about collections and what you need to know if it’s something you’re interested in. That’s June 28 at the main library.
In July, you can celebrate Bastille Day with a tour of Brewery Vivant and learn about French and Belgian beers. It’s an event that ties in with the book “French Milk.”
There are dozens of opportunities to take in these experiences while reading these books. We’ll be telling you about them all summer long, but the best place to go to get started is the Grand Rapids Public Library’s website. GR Reads continues through August 31.
