Chlorine gas leak at Kzoo business

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A hazmat team was called out to a Kalamazoo business after chlorine gas was released Wednesday.

It happened around 9:20 am. in the 1500 block of King Highway.

Workers accidentally punctured a cylinder, causing a chlorine gas to be released, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

There were several reports of people having trouble breathing after the gas was released. Four were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The business was evacuated until the scene was determined to be safe.
