New theater group focuses on Black experience

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) There’s something fairly new and very artistic in Grand Rapids: a theater company called Ebony Road Players. The group that started Ebony Road Players says it was inspired to do so with the resurgence of art in the West Michigan community. They also want to give a voice to the African American community, its social issues, actors, and playwrights.

Ebony Road Players is presenting their second production on Thursday, June 5. It’s at 7:30 p.m. at Kretschmer Recital Hall at Aquinas College. It is a staged reading of Tracey Scott Wilson’s “The Story.” The performance is free, but donations are accepted.
