Community Tornado Safety Tips

CWC PSA Tornado

It’s severe weather season in West Michigan and it’s important to have a plan of action if storm strikes.

If you live where a tornado warning has been issued, take shelter immediately.

A basement is the best place to take cover. If you do not have access to a basement, find a interior closet, or room without windows.

If you must leave your location to find shelter with a friend or family member, do so before the storm arrives.

In order to be best prepared for a tornado, create an emergency kit and stay alert to changing weather conditions.

Also, look for danger signs such as: large hail, dark, low-lying clouds, loud roar, and especially rotating clouds or funnels.

If you see any of these danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.
