School awarded VH1 Save the Music grant

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A local school is receiving a grant from the VH1 Save the Music Foundation to buy new equipment for students.

Coit Creative Arts Academy is a being award a Keys + Kids grant worth $10,000 from the VH1 Save the Music Foundation in partnership with musician Sara Bareilles, according to release.

The award will allow the school to buy a Hybrid Yamaha electric piano, portable PA system and microphone.

Coit Creative Arts Academy is one of only 10 schools in the country and the only one in the state to be awarded the Keys + Kids grant.

The winners were announced on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live” by host Nick Lachey.

VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization working to restore music education in public schools across the country.
