OLIVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A 46-year-old man from Holland is recovering after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing the BMW he was driving.

The wreck happened Tuesday morning around 6:45 a.m. on Port Sheldon Road east of 128th Avenue in Olive Township, north of Holland, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

James Roubos was headed west on Port Sheldon in a 2007 BMW when he said he fell asleep and drifted off the right side of the road, sheriff’s officials said.

The BMW rolled over and hit a power pole, the sheriff’s office said. Roubos wasn’t wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
