Fund for family of man who died in Chain Lakes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A memorial fund has been established for the family of a man who died after going under the water of a northeast Kent County lake.

Charles Cooley, 53, died Saturday after going under the water in the Chain Lakes. He had been fishing with his wife when their boat capsized. She was able to make it to shore, but Cooley was not.

A memorial fund has been set up for the Cooley family. Donations may be made at Lake Michigan Credit Union branches to the Charles A. Cooley Memorial Fund.

Visitation is set for noon to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gillespie Funeral Services on Eastern Avenue in Grand Rapids.

The funeral will be held Friday at Renaissance Church of Christ on 33rd Street. The time of the funeral had not been determined as of Tuesday.
