GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — It’s official, Gilda’s LaughFest broke the world record this year for the most people wearing sunglasses in the dark.

Guinness World Records has officially certified LaughFest’s attempt that took place at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids on March 6.

Crowds lined up for the event, with 1,675 people wearing sunglasses in the dark for five minutes.

LaughFest beat out the previous record of 1,642 people wearing sunglasses at dark at Wrigley Field in Chicago back in July 2012.

LaughFest has broken three other Guinness World Records in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
