1 dead after car hits tree in Alamo Twp.

ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One woman died after her car hit a tree northwest of Kalamazoo Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. on Sixth Street just south of D Avenue in Alamo Township, according to the Alamo Township Fire Department. A southbound car left the road and hit a tree. No other vehicles were involved.

The woman driving the car was pronounced dead on the scene, the fire department said. Her name has not yet been released.

The road was shut down for a time after the wreck.

A Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office sergeant told the Kalamazoo Gazette that witnesses said and text messages showed the woman had crashed her car on purpose.
