BCPD chief pool narrowed to 3 finalists

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek residents will get the chance to meet the three finalists for the police chief position at the end of the month.

The finalists are Battle Creek Interim Chief of Police Jim Blocker — a detective with the department — Los Angeles Sergeant of Police John Amendola, and Village of Monroeville, Ohio Police Chief Gary Lyons, according to a release from the city.

The meeting to introduce the candidates to the public is set for Thursday, June 26 at the Department of Public Works multipurpose room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Following the meeting, final interviews will take place and a decision on who will be chief is expected to be made shortly after.

The new chief will take over for Jackie Hampton, who retired earlier this year.
