Farm: World’s oldest pig dies

ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The world’s oldest pig has died, his owner says.

Mr. Chops, a 21-year-old pot-bellied pig, died June 1 at the Critter Barn educational farm in Zeeland Township, according to the farm’s website.

Born on June 18, 1992, Mr. Chops was nearly 22 when he died. The Critter Barn says his was the oldest age of any pig ever recorded.

The farm’s website says memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Chops’ name to the Critter Barn.

**JUNE 18 UPDATE: Special activities to celebrate Mr. Chops’ life were set for June 18, but have been rescheduled for 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 25 due to weather.
