KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) – A thunderstorm that blew through the greater Grand Rapids area Wednesday afternoon left some major intersections underwater.

In East Grand Rapids, up to 1 inch of rain fell in about 30 minutes. Wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour were recorded at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and small hail was reported in the area of Forest Hills, Ada and Cascade Township. There were reports of tree limbs down.

The storm that hit Kent County then moved into northwest Ionia County with heavy rain, nickel-sized hail and lightning.
