GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The tigers at John Ball Zoo are finally ready for visitors.
The Tigers of the Realm exhibit officially opens to the public on Saturday.
24 Hour News 8 got a preview of the exhibit, including 3-year-old Kuza the tiger.
His brother, Yuri, and Nika, a female tiger, are also in the exhibit. The zoo said visitors will enjoy seeing the two brothers interact with each other.
“You’ll see the two brothers, they will spend a lot of time together which is highly unusual for two male tigers to be together,” said Tim Sampson, Animal Care Supervisor. “Since they were born and raised together they’re very comfortable with each other.”
The John Ball Zoo said the Amur tigers are the largest of all the big cats and are also endangered. In fact, there’s only about 400 left in the wild.
The John Ball Zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 14.
