Raccoon causes power outage in Muskegon Co.

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of Consumer’s Energy customers woke up without power Friday morning.

A spokesman for Consumer’s Energy tells 24 Hour News 8 a raccoon got into the substation off Maple Grove Road near Roosevelt Park in Muskegon County causing the outage.

About 3,600 residents were without power around 6 a.m. Friday.

Consumer’s Energy does have a crew on scene and they expect power to be back on by 7 a.m.

This wasn’t the only power outage crews have been dealing with Friday.

Nearly 1,000 customers were also in the dark in the Schoolcraft and Portage areas in Kalamazoo County, but power has since been restored.
