COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – The rear tire of a motorcycle with two riders blew out on southbound I-69 Sunday.

The motorcycle was traveling on southbound I-69 between US-12 and Dorrance Road in Coldwater Township around 1 p.m. when the rear tire blew out, according a Brach County Sheriff’s Office release.

The operator of the motorcycle lost control when the tire blew. Then both the driver and passenger rolled across the pavement.

David Fisby, 50, and his wife Brenda, 49, both of Fort Wayne, were taken to Community Health Center of Branch County with abrasion and David had a head injury, the release said.

No helmets were worn at the time of the accident and alcohol is another contributing factor, according to deputies.

The accident remains under investigation by Branch County Sheriff Deputies.
