GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Fire departments from around the county are parking a fire rig on overpasses stretching from Grand Rapids all the way to the Wayland exit.

This is a show of support for children who have suffered burn injuries. These children are on their way to a burn camp in Allegan County.

The burn victims met at the YMCA in downtown Grand Rapids, boarded buses and headed to the camp Sunday afternoon.

They were escorted by local police and fire units and a group of motorcyclists.

The burn victims are going to Camp Manitou-Lin near Middleville. They have been going to the camp since 2003.

It’s just a summer camp, expect they cater specially to children who have survived burn injuries. Some have been injured more extensively than others.

The camp is owned by the YMCA.
