GR fireworks on July 5 this year

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Some changes have been made to this year’s Independence Day celebrations in Grand Rapids.

Celebration on the Grand activities will be held on Friday, July 4. The Amway Family Fireworks event is set for after dusk on July 5, according to a Monday release from the City of Grand Rapids.

Traffic on Pearl and Bridge streets will be closed around 8 p.m. so spectators can view the fireworks from the bridges. The streets will reopen as soon as possible after the show.

Other street and highway access ramps near Ah-Nab-Awen Park may be temporarily closed if the crowd grows large enough.
