THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is facing several charges after assaulting a woman with a gun and fleeing from police.

When authorities arrived at the home in the 12-hundred block of Hov Air Drive in Three Rivers around 11 p.m. Sunday they saw the suspect holding the gun and told him to drop it.

The suspect instead took off on foot still holding the gun. Officers shot at the suspect as he ran away. A K-9 unit was brought in, but could not locate the suspect.

Later investigation revealed the suspect had pointed the gun at three people, including two adults and a 3-year-old child. The suspect was apparently fighting with the victims over a child.

Several hours later police received a tip on the whereabouts of the suspect in the Centreville area.

The suspect was located and taken into custody. He is facing three counts of felonious assault and three counts of felony firearm.

The incident remains under investigation and the weapon has not been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Three Rivers Police Department at 269.278.1235 or Central Dispatch 269.467.4195.
