GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids’ NBA Development League franchise has unveiled its team name after a public vote.
The new D-League team will be known as the Grand Rapids Drive.
The team’s president, Steve Jbara, unveiled the name on Daybreak Tuesday.
In May, the team, which is affiliated with the Detroit Pistons, announced four name choices, including the Drive, Chairmen, Horsepower and Blue Racers. Jbara said Drive easily won the popular vote.
The next step for the team is to choose a mascot, which will happen in the next two months.
