KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has admitted to conspiring to set a Kalamazoo house on fire.

Elvis Patterson pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit arson as a second-time habitual offender. A charge of attempted second-degree arson is expected to be dropped.

Patterson, 56, was arrested in February after police were tipped off that he planned to set a North Park Street house on fire. He was caught inside that house.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 11.

Patterson is expected to be sentenced to a minimum of three years or less, though a maximum sentence has not been agreed upon. If the judge sets a higher minimum sentence, Patterson may withdraw his plea.

Lola Atkinson, 69, of Oshtemo Township is also accused of conspiring with Patterson to set the house on fire.
