generic Grand Rapids Police GRPD night

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police plan to have a more visible presence near some downtown bars during the coming weekend after shots were fired last weekend.

Early Sunday morning, someone fired shots near McFadden’s Restaurant-Saloon on Ionia Avenue SW north of Oakes Street. No one was hurt.

Lt. Pat Merrill said the Grand Rapids Police Department is concerned about growing crowds in that area. GRPD plans to have extra officers there this weekend to help keep the peace.
