Man allegedly exposes himself to girl, 7

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kentwood man was locked up after he allegedly exposed himself to a 7-year-old girl.

Matthew Keen, 23, faces three charges of accosting a minor for immoral purposes, one count of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of aggravated indecent exposure.

A woman, who 24 Hour News 8 is not naming to protect her and her family’s identity, said her daughter was playing outside Wingate Apartments in Kentwood with some neighborhood kids when the 7-year-old went upstairs to invite a friend to join them.

That’s when Matthew Keen allegedly lured her into his apartment.

The mother said she previously talked with her daughter about not talking to strangers or going into the apartment of anyone she did not know.

“She kept telling him that she wasn’t allowed to go into anybody’s apartment. But previously he had gave them candy and cookies and rubber bands, so she probably felt a little comfortable with him,” the woman said.

Once inside, Keen allegedly exposed himself.

“She said that he made her come into the apartment and made her lift her shirt up, and had exposed himself and asked her to touch on his private parts,” the mother said.

According to court documents obtained by 24 Hour News 8, Keen admitted to asking the girl to lift her shirt and asking her to take a picture. He also told police he touched himself while the girl was in the room watching.

Documents say the girl ran from the apartment screaming.

The mother said she can’t believe this happened to her daughter.

“It’s like it’s not real,” she said.

The 7-year-old isn’t Keen’s only alleged victim.

According to a second police affidavit, investigators found Facebook messages between Keen and a 13-year-old girl. According to the police document, Keen went by the username Matti Slang.

He allegedly sent a friend request to the teen, who denied his request. Keen allegedly then started sending her nude pictures of himself.

Documents show Keen admitted to sending the pictures because he was mad she denied his friend request.

“I just encourage parents to tell their kids not to go into strangers houses. And to not to talk to strangers,” the 7-year-old’s mother said.

Keen is being held at the Kent County Jail on at least a $20,000 bond. He is due in court on June 26 for a preliminary hearing.
