NEWAYGO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who worked at a Newaygo Wendy’s restaurant is facing charges after investigators say he lied about being robbed.

The 34-year-old White Cloud man initially told investigators another man robbed the Wendy’s at gunpoint, according to the Newaygo Police Department.

But after investigating, police discovered the employee stole the money himself and lied about the robbery.

He was jailed and now faces charges of embezzlement, false report of a felony and lying to a police officer during a felony investigation. His name has not yet been released.
