Miss Indiana weighs in on body image

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Miss Indiana has received a lot of attention about her body after taking the stage in the Miss U.S.A. pageant.

Mekayla Diehl has been dubbed as the beauty contestant with a “normal figure” since competing in the national competition.

She didn’t make it into the top, but she’s arguably received more media attention than any other contestant this year over her figure.

Many critics say Diehl is curvier than the average beauty queen. She did a weight training and gained muscle mass before the Miss U.S.A. pageant.

Although there’s been a lot of support behind her size 4 figure, Diehl said she does not want to be called normal.

“We should be focusing on helping women and men alike feel comfortable in their own skin and be the healthiest version of themselves instead of focusing on being normal,” said Diehl.

She said she’s using all the attention to push her platform of child abuse awareness and now healthy lifestyles.
