PD: Armed 14-year-old tried to rob woman

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A 14-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to rob a woman at gunpoint.

The incident happened in front of Nelson School located on W. Grand Avenue around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim, an 18-year-old Muskegon Heights resident, told police the teen approached her, demanded her property and then pointed a handgun in her direction.

The alleged victim was able to get away from the suspect before he took anything.

Officers later tracked the 14-year-old suspect to an area about two blocks from where the incident happened, near the intersection of Southern Avenue and Park Street.

The suspect was taken into custody without any problems and is being held in the Muskegon County Youth Home on various felony charges.

Police also located a handgun where the teen was taken into custody. The handgun was later discovered to have been reported stolen.
