HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) – Four people were rescued by the Coast Guard after their sailboat capsized near Tunnel Park in Holland Friday.

The sailing vessel capsized one-half mile from shore around 1 p.m. Friday.

When Sector Lake Michigan in Milwaukee received the report from an Ottawa County dispatcher, they sent a 25-foot response boat to assist in the rescue.

The crew rescued three people who were sitting on top of the capsized boat and one person from the water, according to a release.

They were taken back to the Holland Station. There were no serious injuries and three out of the four rescued were wearing life jackets, the release said.

There are plans underway to flip the boat over and tow it back to shore.
