GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A homeless man has pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of another homeless man in 2013.

David Lee Eaton, 69, entered the plea Friday in Kent County Circuit Court in front of Judge Dennis Leiber. By pleading no contest to manslaughter and being a habitual defender, the charges of homicide and carrying a dangerous weapon were dismissed.

Police found the body of Steve Spadorcia, the victim, in July 2013 in an alley behind a vacant storefront on Bridge Street in northwest Grand Rapids.

Officers also found Eaton covered in blood, and investigators said he admitted to using a box cutter in a fight with someone.

Eaton is scheduled to be sentenced on July 24.
