Standoff ends, man kills himself

ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies were at a gas station on D Avenue just off US-131 north of Kalamazoo for a standoff with a suicidal man Friday.stand kzoo 2 062014

The scene was at the BP gas station just east of the highway near N. 12th Street, sheriff’s dispatchers said.

Police were communicating with a male who was suicidal, but he told police he doesn’t want to harm anyone else besides himself.

The suspect did kill himself during the standoff.

The man was in his pick-up truck outside the gas station and the standoff had gone on for nearly 2 hours. The suspected man was stepping in and out of his car while holding a handgun, according to reports at the scene.
