Man pulled from Muskegon Lake dies


MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A 19-year-old died after being pulled from Muskegon Lake Saturday evening.

Muskegon Director of Public Safety Jeff Lewis Sunday confirmed the victim was Darren Raby of Muskegon.

Raby went under around 7:30 p.m. at the end of Edgewater Street in Muskegon, near Dockers Fish House and Lounge restaurant.

Muskegon Fire Department divers were able to locate the victim in 22 feet of water around 8 p.m., according to a news release from the Muskegon Department of Public Safety, and pulled him from the lake.

Emergency responders performed CPR and Raby was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department.
