Nearly 5,000 were without power in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Nearly 5,000 Consumers Energy customers were without power in Grand Rapids, the majority of outages were on the northeast side of the city.

According to the Consumers Energy outage map, more than 4,830 customers experienced the outage.

Power was restored to customers around 12 p.m.

The cause of the outage, which spread from Burton Street SE to the south to I-96 to the north, was due to a problem with a substation, according to a Consumers Energy spokesman.
