BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A vehicle was rear-ended causing a head-on collision with on-coming traffic Monday.
The three car accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. 12 and Wildfire Road in Bethel Township, southwest of Coldwater, according to a Branch County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The preliminary investigation shows Tristan Ferry, 29, of Coldwater, was driving eastbound on U.S. 12 while waiting to turn left onto Wildfire Road when 19-year-old Isaih Osborne rear-ended the back of Ferry’s vehicle, the release said.
The impact caused Ferry’s vehicle into the path of westbound vehicle drive by Mohamed Alslehay, 20, of Coldwater. The impact was so strong both vehicles ended up on opposite sides of roadway in ditches, according to deputies.
Thanks to seat belts and air bags being deployed injuries were minimized and lives were saved.
Speed and in-car distractions are cause of the accident, but alcohol is not a contributing factor. Osborne was cited for speeding and not being able stop, according to the release.
