MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Muskegon police say they expect to charge four people in connection to a Tuesday shooting.
The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. on Isabella Avenue between Wood and Williams streets. Kwaleam Pinkly, 18, of Muskegon was shot in the arm and chest, a Thursday release form the Muskegon Police Department said. He sustained critical injuries, but was in fair condition at a hospital Thursday.
Police detained and questioned several persons of interest in the shooting, they said.
Two of those are expected to face weapons and assault-related charges, according the release. Their names are being withheld pending arraignment, though it’s not yet clear when that will happen.
Another two people — a 29-year-old Muskegon man and a 33-year-old Muskegon man — were arrested on charges of obstructing a police investigation. Their names are also being withheld pending arraignment.
The shooting that injured Pinkly was isolated, Muskegon police said, and not related to any other shootings.
Also Tuesday, there was another shooting nearby Muskegon Heights. In that case, 24-year-old Rayshun Day was shot in the head. He was in critical condition as of Wednesday.
